It is always exciting to announce new products in the civil engineering industry. While the sector is always changing for the better in terms of design and scope, new applications can provide a spark that can revolutionise the industry forever.

As such, we are pleased to confirm that Bluey Technologies will be soon stocking the Geopolymer range. Split into two individual solutions – the GeoRoc and GeoSpray, the Geopolymer products are able to make the difference in range of applications.

The Geopolymer range has been developed by our close friends at Milliken & Company in the US, who are one of the leading players in the concreting and grout industry. Thanks to their team's hard work and dedication, this product line is historical – the first water-activated product of its type to become commercially available in Australia.

Geopolymer history

While it has been more than 40 years since the benefits of geopolymers to the civil engineering industry were discovered, harsh chemicals were required to activate the raw materials. This limited its use to the laboratory and out of the construction industry.

However, as a result of engineering research, a product made of 50-70 per cent recycled industrial waste directly from coal-fired power stations and industries such as steel manufacturing was created. Activated by water, the cement mortars are extremely environmentally friendly and is a genuine green option for civil engineering businesses.

What applications can the Geopolymer range fill?

Both the GeoRoc and GeoSpray products can be used in a variety of applications. This includes tunnel linings, sewer repairs, highly corrosive industrial environments and flooring and tank linings.

This is not an exhaustive list and our Bluey team are able to provide more information to where the Geopolymer products can add value to your next civil engineering project.

However, there is more to these products than its green edge. Here are several other key benefits.

  • Completely non-shrink (not simply shrinkage compensated) – An important trait across a number of applications, particularly under extreme conditions.
  • Extremely high bond characteristics – This factor accommodates cracking and other grout-related issues.
  • High compressive and flexural strengths – With a high tensile strength, this grout is able to resist failure or bending.
  • Durable – Tough in the harshest of Australian conditions to ensure that your project will be able to stand the test of time.

We believe that the Geopolymer range will be of significant benefit for many Australian businesses. For more information, contact the expert Bluey team today.
